Red alert for 8 districts! Chennai to receive heavy rains on December 9

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in 8 districts namely Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam. By 7.30 pm it has become a depression. At present, Karaikal is centered on the Bay of Bengal, 770 km east-northeast from Trigona Hill in Sri Lanka and 970 km east-northeast from Chennai.
