Mandus storm: Heavy rain on December 8.. Red alert for Tamil Nadu-Meteorological department warning
CHENNAI: The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert warning as heavy rain is likely to occur in 13 districts of Tamil Nadu on December 8 in response to Cyclone Mandus.
A low pressure area has formed over South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas this morning. It is moving in west-northwest direction and is likely to intensify into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal on 6th evening. It will then move further west-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm, likely to reach North-East-Pudhwa and adjoining South Andhra coastal areas on December 8 morning. 05.12.2022 and 06.12.2022: Light to moderate rain at a couple of places over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal. 07.12.2022: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu coastal districts, Puduwai and Karaikal areas and at a couple of places in interior Tamil Nadu districts. Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai districts and Karaikal regions received heavy rain at one or two places.
08.12.2022: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at most places over coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal and at few places in interior districts of Tamil Nadu. Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Chennai, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam districts and Puducherry, Karaikal may witness heavy to very heavy rain; Very heavy rain has occurred at a couple of places. Iranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Thiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukottai, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts also received heavy rain at one or two places. 09.12.2022: Light to moderate rain with thundershower at most places over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal. Heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in Thiruvallur, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Salem districts, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, Karur and Ero. Heavy rain is also likely at a few places in the districts and Puducherry areas.
