The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order allocating 1.12 crores to provide self-defense training to girl students in Government Service Homes and Kindergartens. It was announced in the Legislative Assembly that self-defense training and sports training will be provided to girl students in Government Service Homes and Children’s Nurseries under the Social Welfare Department of the Tamil Nadu Government. 1.12 crore has been allocated to implement this and the Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an ordinance. According to this, a total of 1400 girls will be given Karate and Silambam training.

A committee consisting of District Social Welfare Officer, District Child Protection Officer and District Sports Officer has been formed to select the instructors. The Tamil Nadu government has ordered the formation of a committee headed by the District Social Welfare Officer, District Child Protection Officer, District Sports Officer and Center Superintendent to monitor the training classes.
