National People’s Power Leader in Sri Lankan Presidential Election
Anura Kumara Dissanayake will be sworn in as the President of Sri Lanka today at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo. He is about to take office as the 9th President of Sri Lanka. National People’s Shakti leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has won the Sri Lankan presidential election. Anura Kumara Dissanayake becomes the new President of Sri Lanka after winning the election. The Sri Lankan presidential election was held on the 21st. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Sajith Premadasa, Ranil Wickramasinghe and others contested as presidential candidates.
But no one got majority. In order to win the Sri Lankan presidential election, more than 50 percent of the votes are required. As no one got it, the preference votes of the top two finishers Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Sajith Premadasa were counted. While the 2nd round of vote counting was held yesterday, Anura Kumara Dissanayake was declared the winner. On this occasion, Anura Kumara will be sworn in as the new President of Sri Lanka today (September 23) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
He is the 9th President of Sri Lanka. Anura Kumara Dissanayake was born in Anuradhapuram in 1968 in a simple family. He is the current leader of the left-wing party known as JVP (Janata Vimukti Perumuna) and he has promoted the policies of change in Sri Lanka and eradication of corruption. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, also known as AKD, led the people’s protest in 2022 when Sri Lanka was hit by a major economic crisis. It is noteworthy that the AKD, which saw the election with the intention of change, has received overwhelming support not only in the southern part of Sri Lanka, but also in the area where Tamils live.
