A fire broke out in a workshop in Virudhunagar this morning
More than 15 two-wheelers were gutted in a fire at a workshop in Virudhunagar this morning. Ahmed (58) hails from Sitakhadi Street in Virudhunagar. He owns a two-wheeler workshop at Kacheri Road. Two wheelers and machines including electric motor, generator and pump are repaired here. After the work was done last night, the electric motors and two-wheelers that came for repair were parked in the workshop. In this case, the workshop suddenly caught fire at 4 o’clock in the morning today.
Neighbors informed the fire department. By then, the fire had spread and burned. Firefighters rushed to bring the fire under control. However, more than 15 two-wheelers, electric motors, water pumps, sugarcane juice making machine and generators were destroyed in the fire. It is said that the damage value may be Rs.5 lakh. The Virudhu Nagar West police are investigating the cause of the fire on the basis of a complaint filed by Zedhu Ahmed.
